We have a great bunch of members that like to be sociable outside as well as inside the lodge. So far we have been Golfing, Movie Night (National Treasure 2), Picnic in the park, Dinner and drinks at the local RSL club not to mention a few drinks together at each others houses.

We are looking to open all our social events to all lodges who would like to join us. The more the merrier

The social committee has also been looking after Ashton lodges festive board which to date has consisted of pizza, pasta, hamburgers, Chinese & roast dinner which has become a great success with our members and especially our visitors.

We like to get around to other lodges all over the place which you can see at our visitors page. It's great to be so welcome by other masons into their lodges.

Below is a couple of ideas the committee has come up with for future events.

Future Events

Trivia Night, Movie Night, Bare foot bowls, Going to a footy game at Suncorp Stadium, Christmas Party (Normally our December Meeting)

Ashton Barefoot Bowls on the 15th of June 2008.

The Barefoot Bowls had another great turnout with 25 people turning up to Algester Bowls Club for a great meal and day out. Also 3 members from Taringa Lodge with their families. Can't wait for the next event guys.

BBQ at our WM house on the 26th of April 2008.

The social team of Ashton has put on another grand social event for all the Brethren, Family and friends with approx. 30 people attending the totally free day. Ricky & Alison Beecroft must be commended for their efforts and assistance in supplying the location and setting up of a suitable area for excellent entertaining. Also to Brothers Tooth, Rushton, Moat and Knott for organizing and delivering the banquet of food to feed a small army.

The steak, chicken & sausages sizzling on the great Aussie BBQ with onions to boot got the mouths of all water in anticipation. As everyone proceeded to the buffet style counter they were greeted with Bread rolls, a ton of Salads, Fried rice, Potato Bake and Chicken & Pasta Mornay. A second plate was definitely require to fit in a bit of everything. But we needed to make sure we left room for the bucket loads of deserts compiling of Chocolate Mud Cake, Bee Sting, Apple Pies, Cream filled sponge and Anzac biscuits. Absolutely restraint class guys, well done.

It was great to see Brother Stevens, Batton& Bolingford "who kindly assisted on the bar" not to forget Brother Armstrong  & McCollum (our new members) & Brother Nesbit & Wallace who visit Ashton on a regular basis and to all the ladies. The casual atmosphere of laughter and entertainment shows the real friendship we all have together in unity outside of lodge as well as in.

All have expressed their gratitude to the social committee and can't wait till the next event which by the way should be Bare foot bowls on 15th June at Algester Lawn Bowls Midday.

Hope you all can come.
