What is a Freemason I hear you ask?

Freemasonry is many different things. Each man has different reason why they go. Many go to learn about the history of Freemasons and Stone Masons. Some like to be socialable and other just like to meet other men with great standards in life and good attitudes. We all want to associate with men with excellent ethics and morals.

It is one of the world's oldest and largest fraternal organizations which unifies great men regardless of race, colour or financial status. It provides a guide for living in today's society. We live by the principles of integrity, goodwill and charity. We are a non-profit organization that supports numerous charities and community services.

Who are the Freemasons?
Freemasons are from all walks of life and are good men aged 18 years old or more. I would say you have meet a few and you didn't even know it. We all come from different backgrounds, for example, we have Engineers, Inspectors, Project Managers, Printers, Carpenters, Glaziers, WHS&S Officers, people who own their own business and a whole heap more. We all share a common interest in Masonry  and have similar morals and standards. We are required to respect and follow the law and generally be good people.

To be a Freemason you must believe in a Supreme Being. We are not a religion. So this is whatever you believe in as your god. Being a Freemason will not contradict any of your religions beliefs. Again, we have allot of different men with different backgrounds and beliefs and this goes for Supreme Beings as well.

Actually religion and politics are the two things we don't talk about. Frankly it creates too much friction and disagreements, so that's why we just don't go there.

From what I hear there are approx. 5,000,000 Freemasons worldwide and about 75,000 in Australasia alone.
